This certificate is one of the Cambridge English qualifications and matches the level B2 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). It is the most popular exam among the Cambridge certificates, and it is accepted by thousands of businesses, employers, educational institutions, universities, and governments worldwide. This language certificate is valid for life and gives their CVs a real boost.
The FCE exam preparation course is based on strategy training that covers all the aspects of learning English: speaking, writing, reading and listening – so preparing for this exam helps students develop the skills they need inside and outside the classroom. The tasks are based on authentic situations; students improve their language skills to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English. Many universities such as Bolzano University require that students submit such a language certificate or take it before the completion of their study course.
I really enjoy going to the FCE course on Friday afternoons. I attend the lessons because, I think, the skills I enhance will help me a lot in the future.

I registered for this course because I like English very much. My goal and motivation are to pass the exam and get the B2 certificate. I think I will need this certificate in the future- on the one hand because I can improve my speaking skills in English and on the other hand because I might need it for different universities. My name is Johanna Zacher and I want to get the FCE certificate because nowadays language certificates are a great advantage for the upcoming career. Studying English at school is very content related and mainly focuses on learning the basics of speaking and writing in English, due to that, participating in the FCE lessons is a great opportunity to improve our English skills. We learn many ways to reach the highest possible level of our personal English knowledge and how to avoid being mainstream or making common mistakes. We are shown how to use suitable expressions for speaking and writing. While having conversations it is important to know how to express our thoughts accurately and to be confident enough to show character but to be polite at once. Furthermore, we also practice many other tasks that help us with understanding the content we are given. Even though we are a little restricted due to the current circumstances, I am looking forward to working with Ms. Preindl and improving my English skills even more. By obtaining the FCE certificate we are given a fantastic opportunity to lay the foundation for our future.

CAE – Cambridge English Certificate– C1 Advanced
A few students at our school decided to develop their skills even further by preparing for CAE (Cambridge Advanced) that matches the level C1 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). These students are provided with C1 exam practice tests and can download useful materials from the FCE Google classroom platform. But this year there is no C1 preparation course offered.
The reason why I want to take this exam is mainly that, it is a great opportunity the school is providing, and it would be a shame to miss such a chance. Further, I am looking forward to attending university, after I have my graduation. For some universities to get in you have to be able to provide some sort of certification, therefore the CAE is perfect because it is internationally acknowledged. Through international recognition, it is also very beneficial for our curriculum vitae. I consider the CAE as a great opportunity to increase our prospects for an international career and I am very grateful to be part of it.

The exams can be taken in the Cambridge exam centre alpha beta Piccadilly, Talfergasse 1A, 39100 Bozen and every year there are three exam sessions in April, June and December. For students, the FCE exam fee is €178,50 and the CAE exam fee is € 201,50.
